Dog walker in Rotterdam, free
Long work days, busy weeks, tired legs. Find a Rotterdam neighbour who'd love to walk your dog, for free.
Why a neighbour makes a great dog walker
Guauly walkers are dog lovers who don't own a dog, and walking yours is the highlight of their week. They walk for the company, so you can build a relaxed rhythm that suits you both. Walks with community neighbours are free; pro sitters on Guauly charge per night, not per walk.
Walking a dog in Rotterdam: off-leash areas and rules
In Rotterdam your dog stays on the lead unless a sign says it can run free. You pick up after your dog, except in dog-walking (uitlaat) and off-leash zones whose signs say you don't have to. In a dog-walking zone your dog still stays on the lead. Playgrounds are always off-limits, and signs at the entrances of the big parks say which rules apply there.
The Kralingse Bos is the city's biggest dog walk and has its own dog zones. Dogs can run free in the eastern part all year, except along the lakeshore. In the northern woods there's a lead rule during the spring and summer breeding season, except along the outer edge and on the footpath by the water between the breeding area and the lake, where dogs can run free all year. The beaches are off-limits to dogs in summer, and the playgrounds and the Heemtuin all year round.
Whether you live in Blijdorp, Kralingen, Hillegersberg or on the south bank, there's almost always a park or off-leash field within walking distance. A walker from your own district saves a trip across the Maas and knows the loops your dog is already used to. On Guauly, walks are done by community neighbours for free; pro sitters charge per night, not per walk.

Questions owners ask
How often can a Guauly walker walk my dog in Rotterdam?▾
It's up to both of you. Some owners and walkers set up a weekly rhythm (e.g. every Tuesday afternoon), others do it more flexibly. Since no one is being paid, there's no pressure for either side to over-commit.
Can I ask for a specific walker in my Rotterdam neighbourhood?▾
Yes. Browse by area or distance, read profiles, and reach out to anyone you think would be a good fit. You always pick the walker — Guauly never assigns.
What if my dog and the walker don't get along?▾
This is why we always recommend a pre-meeting walk — 20 minutes together before committing. If it doesn't click, no pressure, you try with someone else. The community culture is about fit, not pressure.
