Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 7 August 2026
Guauly respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how and why we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. It covers both free community care and paid bookings with pro sitters. By using Guauly, you acknowledge this Policy.
1. Who we are
Guauly is a sole proprietorship operated by Cuena, Forchstrasse 116, 8032 Zurich, Switzerland ("Guauly", "we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us about privacy at [email protected].
We process personal data under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies to you, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What data we collect
Account data: your name, email, postal address, city and postcode, phone number, and date of birth.
Profile and content: photos, your dog's details (including any health or care notes you add), your experience and availability, the messages you send through the platform, and reviews.
Usage and device data: IP address, device and browser information, and activity logs, collected when you use the platform.
Approximate location: we use your address to calculate and show the distance between you and other members. Your full name and exact address are never shown to other users, only your city and postcode.
Payment data (paid bookings): the amount, date, and details of a transaction. Card payments are handled by our payment provider, and we do not store your full card details.
Pro sitter data: if you offer paid care, our payment provider collects the bank and payout details, tax information, and identity-verification data (which may include an identity document and a photo) needed to pay you and to meet anti-money-laundering rules.
3. How we use your data, and our legal bases
We use your data to:
- provide and run the platform, your account, and connections between owners and sitters (to perform our contract with you);
- process paid bookings, payouts, and related tax and accounting records (to perform our contract and meet legal obligations);
- keep the community safe and prevent fraud or abuse (our legitimate interest and legal obligations);
- communicate with you about your account, bookings, and relevant updates (to perform our contract), and send optional news or tips (with your consent, which you can withdraw);
- understand and improve the product using analytics (our legitimate interest, or your consent where required).
4. Payments and identity verification
Paid bookings are processed by Stripe (Stripe Connect). When you pay or receive money through Guauly, Stripe processes your payment data under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not store your full card details.
If you are a pro sitter, Stripe collects and verifies identity, bank, and tax information to set up your payout account and to meet its legal know-your-customer and anti-money-laundering obligations. We receive limited confirmation and transaction data from Stripe to run bookings, but not your full identity documents.
Identity verification is optional for sitters. If you choose to verify, our verification provider Didit asks for a photo of your ID document and a selfie, checks that the document is genuine and that your face matches it, and tells us whether the check passed. This involves biometric data from your face, which Didit processes on our behalf and only with the explicit consent you give when you start the check. We store only the outcome and its date, never your documents or images. You can withdraw from verification at any time by contacting us, and we will remove the badge.
5. Who we share your data with
We share data only as needed to run Guauly:
- With other users: when you connect or make a booking, the other party sees the information needed to arrange care (never your full name or exact address, only city, postcode, and approximate distance). Your public profile and reviews are visible to other users.
- With service providers who work on our behalf: our payment provider (Stripe), hosting, email delivery, and product analytics (PostHog). They may only use the data to provide their service to us.
- For legal and safety reasons: to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, or protect the rights, property, or safety of users, their pets, or the public.
- In a business transfer: if Guauly is ever sold or reorganised, data may transfer as part of that, subject to this Policy.
We never sell your personal data.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the platform. With your consent where required, we also use PostHog for product analytics, to understand how the platform is used and to improve it.
We do not use advertising networks and do not sell data for advertising. Most browsers let you manage or reject cookies in their settings, though some features may not work correctly if you do.
7. International transfers
Some of our service providers (for example Stripe and our analytics provider) may process data outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data.
8. How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data, except where we must keep certain records to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations (in particular transaction records for paid bookings) or to resolve disputes. Those records are kept only for as long as the law requires.
9. Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (SSL), access controls, and encrypted storage of passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please use a strong password and keep it confidential.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw any consent you have given.
You can exercise most of these directly in your account settings, or by contacting us at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or your local authority in the EU/UK.
11. Age
Guauly is only for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the platform or the law. We will update the "Last Updated" date, and for material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Last updated: 7 August 2026.
13. Contact us
For any privacy question or request, contact Guauly at [email protected], or by post at Forchstrasse 116, 8032 Zurich, Switzerland. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
