Terms and Conditions
Last Updated: 6 August 2026
These are the general terms and conditions (the "Terms") for using Guauly, our community platform that connects dog owners with dog sitters. Care on Guauly can be arranged on an unpaid, neighbourly basis with a Personal Sitter, or as a paid booking with a Pro Sitter, where the owner pays the sitter through the platform. By creating an account or using our services, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use Guauly.
1. Using Guauly
Using Guauly requires registration and acceptance of these Terms and our Privacy Policy. The minimum age for using the platform is 18 years.
During registration you provide the personal information needed to create your account and deliver our services, such as your full name, email, address, phone number, and date of birth.
After registration you can create a profile as a dog owner, a Personal Sitter, or a Pro Sitter, which requires additional information about your experience, character, and availability.
Creating an account, building a profile, searching, and messaging are free for everyone. Paid bookings and any other optional paid services (such as insurance) always show their prices, fees, and payment conditions before you confirm.
2. What Guauly Offers
Guauly is a community platform where dog owners ("Owners") and dog sitters ("Sitters") meet and arrange care for dogs ("Pet Care").
There are two kinds of Sitter:
- Personal Sitters offer care on an unpaid, neighbourly basis. No money changes hands through Guauly.
- Pro Sitters offer care professionally for a fee. The Owner pays the Pro Sitter's rate through Guauly, and Guauly keeps a service fee (commission) on that payment.
Guauly is a neutral venue. We are not a Sitter, we do not provide Pet Care ourselves, and we do not employ, direct, or supervise Sitters. Owners and Sitters deal with each other directly. We offer general guidance on safety and on choosing a Sitter, but we do not endorse or guarantee any Owner or Sitter.
Guauly earns revenue from the commission on paid bookings and from optional services, which keeps the core platform free to join.
3. Bookings and Paid Care
Paid Pet Care is arranged through a booking (a "Booking") made using the tools on Guauly. A Booking sets out the Pro Sitter, the dates and type of Pet Care, the sitter's rate, the total price and any applicable taxes, and the cancellation policy.
A Booking may be started by either the Owner or the Pro Sitter. It becomes binding once both parties accept it through Guauly and payment has been authorised. The receiving party may decline any request for any reason.
Once a Booking is confirmed, you agree to honour the price and the other terms shown in the Booking confirmation.
Care arranged with a Personal Sitter is agreed directly between the Owner and the sitter and does not go through the Booking or payment tools. You must not agree paid care through Guauly and then take payment for it outside Guauly in order to avoid our service fee.
4. Payments, Fees and Commissions
All prices and fees are shown and payable in local currency and include applicable taxes where required by law.
Payments for paid Bookings are processed by our third-party payment provider, Stripe. By making or receiving payments through Guauly, you also agree to Stripe's applicable terms, including the Stripe Connected Account Agreement where you receive payouts. Guauly never stores your full card details.
For each paid Booking, the Owner pays the Pro Sitter's rate and any applicable taxes. Our service fee (commission) is a percentage of that rate which we deduct from the sitter's payout — it is not added to what the Owner pays, so the Owner pays exactly the rate shown before they confirm.
Guauly acts only as a limited payment collection agent for the Pro Sitter. We collect payment from the Owner at the time of Booking, hold it, and pay the sitter their rate less our commission and payment-processing fees after the care period has been completed and once Stripe has completed any required identity and account verification. Payment received by Guauly on the sitter's behalf counts as payment made to the sitter.
We may hold or delay a payout where we reasonably suspect fraud, a chargeback, or a breach of these Terms, or where needed to protect users or third parties.
Sitters are solely responsible for declaring and paying any income tax, VAT, social-security contributions, or other charges arising from money earned through Guauly. Guauly does not withhold or remit these on a sitter's behalf. Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, partnership, or joint-venture relationship, or any agency relationship beyond the limited payment role described above.
5. Cancellations, Refunds and No-Shows
A Booking can only be cancelled before the care period starts; once it has started it can no longer be cancelled.
If an Owner cancels, the refund depends on how far ahead of the start they cancel: 7 days or more before, a full refund; between 3 and 7 days before, a 50% refund; less than 3 days before, no refund. Where a refund is reduced, the sitter is compensated for holding the dates. Payment-processing fees are non-refundable.
If a Pro Sitter cancels, the Owner is refunded in full, including our service fee. Repeated cancellations without good reason may lead to account restrictions.
If either party does not show up, or the care is not delivered as agreed, contact us. Where we reasonably determine that a Pro Sitter did not provide the care agreed, we may cancel the Booking and issue a full or partial refund.
Before requesting a chargeback from your bank, please contact us so we can review the Booking. We may mediate as an intermediary, but we are not obliged to compensate either party. In force-majeure situations the standard cancellation policy may not apply, and we may issue refunds on different terms.
6. Guauly Is Only an Intermediary
Guauly provides a platform that connects Owners and Sitters and, for paid Bookings, facilitates payment between them. Guauly is not a party to the care agreement between an Owner and a Sitter and does not itself provide Pet Care.
The care arrangement is a direct contract between the Owner and the Sitter. Guauly does not employ Sitters, does not supervise care, and does not guarantee the quality, safety, or outcome of any care arrangement.
Owners and Sitters are each responsible for satisfying themselves that the other party is suitable and for arranging appropriate insurance. We strongly recommend that both parties hold adequate liability and pet insurance and that they meet before the first stay.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Guauly is not liable for the acts, omissions, injuries, loss, or damage arising from a care arrangement between users.
7. Emergencies, Veterinary Care and Late Collection
Owners should give their Sitter the information needed to care for the dog, including feeding, medication, an emergency contact, and the dog's vet.
If a dog needs veterinary care during a stay and the Owner cannot be reached, the Owner authorises the Sitter to arrange necessary veterinary treatment. The Owner is responsible for the cost of any such treatment. We strongly recommend that both parties hold suitable pet and liability insurance.
If an Owner fails to collect their dog at the end of a paid Booking, additional care time may be charged pro rata at the Booking's daily rate. If an Owner cannot be reached for an extended period after the care period ends, the Sitter may contact local animal-welfare authorities to arrange care, and the Owner remains responsible for the resulting costs.
Guauly does not itself provide veterinary, boarding, or emergency services, and, except as required by law, is not liable for decisions taken by Owners or Sitters in an emergency.
8. Your Responsibilities
You cannot share your account with others or transfer it to third parties. You must choose a secure password and protect your account from unauthorised access.
You must provide truthful information in your account and profiles. Any content you upload (texts, images, videos) must not violate any laws.
You confirm that neither you nor members of your household have been convicted of crimes that endanger the safety of others, including theft, assault, or abuse.
You must treat other users' data confidentially and use the platform in good faith. Pro Sitters may offer care for payment through Guauly, but you must not use the platform to advertise unrelated businesses or services.
If you earn income as a Sitter, you are responsible for meeting any registration, licensing, tax, social-security, and insurance obligations that apply where you live.
Prohibited activities include: pornographic, illegal, or harmful content; harassment or violations of personal rights; and unsolicited advertising or spam.
Violating these obligations may result in account restrictions, deactivation, or deletion.
9. Membership and Account
There is no fee to join Guauly, and free membership has no fixed term. Fees apply only to paid Bookings and any optional paid services, on the terms shown before you confirm.
You can delete your account and data at any time from your profile settings or through our contact form. If you have Bookings or payouts in progress, we may keep limited transaction records to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Deleting your account does not cancel confirmed Bookings or any outstanding payment obligations, which survive until they are settled.
10. Guauly's Responsibilities
Guauly provides a platform for connecting dog owners and sitters but does not guarantee that connections or Bookings will be made.
We are not liable for content or false information in user profiles, for content from external sources, or for unauthorised access to data.
Guauly is not liable for any damage caused by members, including property damage or personal injury involving dogs. We strongly recommend that users hold independent insurance.
We aim to keep Guauly available at all times, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access and do not offer compensation for downtime.
Our content is created carefully, but we do not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness.
11. Guauly's Rights and Content
We may deactivate or delete profiles, reviews, or accounts, where they violate these Terms or are deemed inappropriate or unsafe, or where necessary to protect Guauly, its users, or the public.
By using the platform, you grant Guauly a free, non-exclusive, worldwide right to use and display the content you provide in order to operate and promote the service, and you confirm the content complies with all laws.
We may use third-party services (such as payment, hosting, and analytics providers) to operate the platform and share the user data necessary for those purposes.
Our platform content is subject to copyright. Reproduction requires our express permission. We may seek compensation for proven damage resulting from a breach of these Terms.
12. Community Standards
Guauly is built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared love for dogs. All interactions should reflect these values.
We encourage a meet-and-greet before confirming any care arrangement to make sure it is a good fit for everyone.
Communication should stay within our messaging system for safety and record-keeping.
Reviews and ratings should be honest, based on real experience, and constructive, so the whole community can rely on them.
13. Resolving Issues and Disputes
If a dispute arises between users, we encourage direct communication first. Our support team can help mediate where needed.
For a dispute about a paid Booking (for example a cancellation, a no-show, or the quality of care), contact us before raising a chargeback with your bank. We can review the Booking and, where appropriate, mediate a refund. Guauly mediates only as an intermediary and is not obliged to compensate either party.
For any other platform-related issue, please contact our support team using the methods provided.
We are committed to the fair resolution of disputes and to maintaining a positive community.
14. Legal Information and Governing Law
These Terms are written in plain language for clarity and apply regardless of gender.
Guauly is operated from Zurich, Switzerland. These Terms are governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods.
The place of jurisdiction for any dispute is Zurich, Switzerland. If you use Guauly as a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
If any part of these Terms is found invalid, the rest remains in effect.
15. Updates to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time to reflect changes in our services or in legal requirements. Where a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
Updated Terms replace previous versions, and continued use after an update means you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using Guauly.
